Who We Are
The Body of Christ North Texas Assembly is a small group of
believers who have joined together to undertake a Web based educational
ministry. Our intent is to
help others come to an understanding of the Bible, rightly divided as
directed by the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 2:15.
We are not affiliated with any religious organization or
denomination.
We are a not-for-profit educational organization.
All materials produced by us listed on this web site are
available free of charge to any individual who requests them.
We will add materials to the list as time and resources permit.
We ask all who are of like faith to pray for us that we may boldly
and faithfully carry out this ministry. What We Believe
Because we live in the
“Age of Grace,” a time when God manifests salvation to mankind
individually rather than nationally; and because the Apostle Paul is the
one man to whom God gave “a dispensation of the gospel,” even the
ministry, received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace
of God; and because Paul was given a ministry to both Jew and Gentile,
we believe that all doctrine for all believers in this age must be
developed in light of the teachings of the Apostle Paul.
The Age of Grace began
when the Lord Jesus Christ reached down from Heaven and converted Saul
of Tarsus and sent him forth as Paul, the apostle.
Israel, as a nation, was set aside in temporary and partial
blindness (Ro 11:25) and God revealed some things through Paul that He
had kept hidden from the foundation of the world.
Paul’s message of good
news or “gospel” has many aspects, each of which we will endeavor to
fully explain in various articles to be posted to this website.
God
There is only one God
and He is eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. He created the
heavens, the earth, and everything in them.
He accomplished this great work in six literal 24 hour days.
He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and that is His name
forever. (Ex 3:15)
The Nature of Man
When Adam and Eve
listened to Satan and disobeyed God, they exposed their descendents to
an extremely serious consequence.
Adam’s nature was changed and as a result, all of mankind has
inherited a sinful, fallen, and anti-God nature which causes all to sin
and keeps everyone eternally separated from God.
This eternal separation from God is referred to as death
and is the only payment for sin that a holy, righteous, and just God can
accept from man as satisfactory payment of his sin debt.
One of the central themes of Scripture is the fulfillment of the
prophecy of Ge 3:15 where
God tells Satan, “And there will be war between you and the woman and
between your seed and her seed: by him will your head be crushed and by
you his foot will be wounded.”
The wounding of the foot of the woman’s seed by the seed of Satan
occurred when Jesus Christ was crucified.
The crushing of the head of Satan will occur when God casts Satan
into the Lake of Fire as revealed in Re 20:10.
Salvation of Mankind
God’s righteous justice
requires payment from every man for his sins and the only acceptable
payment is death.
·
Ro 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
·
Ro 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;”
·
Ro 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and
death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all
sinned—“
Man, by nature, is
absolutely and totally depraved.
As such, he has no ability to save himself, nor is he able to
participate in any way in his salvation.
He is unable even to desire salvation!
Because God is not only
righteous and just, but is also gracious, loving, merciful, and kind,
He, knowing that no man would ever be able to pay his sin debt, took
upon Himself the form of a man and in His own body suffered death on the
cross as full payment for the sin of His elect.
·
1Co 15:22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made
alive.”
·
Php 2:8 “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
·
2Co 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we
might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
·
Ro 4:24-5:1 “…..It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised
up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our
offenses, and was raised for our justification.
Therefore, having been justified
by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”
·
Ep 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not
of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should
boast.”
·
Ac 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name
under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
The Body of Christ
The “Body of Christ” has two meanings in Scripture.
1.
Ep 2:11-22 speaks of Jesus’ physical body in which He, as both God and
man, paid the penalty completely, totally, and satisfactorily for all
sins; past, present, and future committed by God’s elect.
The elect were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the
world. (Ep 1:4-5; Co 2:8-17;
1 Co 12:13; Ro 6:3)
2.
Ep 1:22-23 speaks of “the church, which is His body” and refers to the
elect who have been redeemed by Christ.
They belong to Him and therefore are His!
Body, in this case just means a group of believers who have been
redeemed by Christ. It can
refer to a specific group or assembly (church) or it can refer to all
the elect because Christ saved them all.
The Mission
The mission of the church, the Body of Christ, is to proclaim the
message of reconciliation to man (2 Co 5:14-21) and endeavor to make all
men see what the Fellowship of the Mystery is.
(Ep 3:9) To properly fulfill our mission, we must follow Paul's command
in 2 Ti 2:15.
Works and Religious Rituals
In the Age of Grace, salvation is by the Grace of God only! Religious
rituals and good works such as circumcision, water baptism, tithing, and
etc. should be shunned. (Acts 15:20-21; Ga 5:1-6)
